We headed to Moab to explore the Arches and Canyonlands national parks. We had a very hard time finding an Airbnb in Moab. The town is relatively small and October/November seems to be a busy time for the area due to the nice hiking weather. We finally found one that shares a backyard with two other homes and is located by a park.

The first week we didn’t do too much away from Moab. The first couple of days there was a little bit of snow and the kids loved playing in it. We did homeschool and Danielle recorded some videos for her YouTube channel. We explored the playground and parks, and visited the indoor pool at the Moab Recreation Center (our kids LOVE to swim). We celebrated Paxton’s 2nd birthday and Danielle put on an amazing Halloween party in the yard with games and activities.

The 2nd week we finally hit the trails in Arches National Park. We were amazed on the drive through the park. The formations are breath taking. It really looks like giants just stacked up some stones one atop the other. It was incredible.

The first trail we explored was the short and easy Double Arch Trail. It’s like a double rainbow but even better because it’s always there. We also checked out the Sand Dune Arch which (obviously) has a ton of sand. It was like playing in a giant sand pit. Kids loved it.

The final trail we hiked in Arches was the Delicate Arch Trail, a relatively easy 3 mile trek to an amazing view of a large arch. This is one of the most popular hikes in Arches and it was easily the most crowded hike we’ve done. Once you arrive at the arch it’s a little dangerous for the younger kids. We didn’t get too close to the arch because the rocks are a bit steep for a 2 year old. So we just got out some snacks and enjoyed the view before heading back. Pax really enjoyed this trail. He probably walked at least half of it. He did not want to be picked up!

We didn’t get to explore Canyonlands very much. It’s a bit more of a drive from Moab and it’s hard to go all the way out there when Arches is so close. But we did make a drive out one afternoon and take in the Grand View. We’ll have to come back one day and check out the Mesa Arch Trail.
