Austin

Feb - May 2021

We returned to Austin for a few months to reset. We arrived just after the “Texas Freeze” of 2021. We rented a house in the Northwest Hills neighborhood and fell in love with the area.

We spent most of our time visiting family in Texas on the weekends and exploring the Austin parks during the week. Ouma and Oupa were a short 1-hour ride away and we spent a lot of time there letting the kids enjoy their Christmas presents (electric cars).

Bike Rides!

Austin isn’t exactly “bike friendly” but there are a ton of places to take the kids for safe rides.

Favorite Park

Auditorium Shores Playground

This was our kids’ favorite playground / park in the Austin area. It’s located close to downtown and lots of unique activities for the kids.

Easter Bluebonnets

Brushy Creek Park

It seemed bluebonnets were everywhere, but we* especially loved getting to run around in them at this park in North Austin.

While in Austin Danielle picked up a lot of 24 hour shifts at various hospitals while the kids finished up homeschool. Donnie received his COVID vaccination here in April and we began preparing where we would head to next.

Shortly after arriving to Austin Danielle received an offer to work in Hawaii for the summer. It took a while to work out the paperwork for Danielle to get licensed, but we were PUMPED to visit the place we had originally set out for before COVID hit.

We unloaded the van into our storage unit, packed a few bags, and headed to the Hawaiian Islands!
