Telluride

Dec 2020

After exploring the National Parks of Utah we decided we’d take advantage of the all-wheel-drive Ford Transit and visit a ski village. We decided to settle in Telluride for about 4 weeks and get the kids in some skis for the first time. We found a good sized home located a short walk from a gondola.

We arrived just before Thanksgiving and quickly learned there’s not much for grocery shopping. We ended up having ham and chicken legs for Thanksgiving!

Shortly after Thanksgiving we celebrated the girls’ 8th birthday. We didn’t have a lot of options for decorations in small town Telluride, but Danielle can make an extravagant party from almost nothing. We had cake, balloon, and an indoor pińata! The girls exclaimed it was the “best birthday ever!”

In our time in Telluride we visited playgrounds (snow can’t stop us from that!), got in some sledding, and let the kids get in their first ski lessons. We tried to get outside everyday as we attempt to teach our kids as “there’s no such thing as bad weather”. Being Texans we’re not used to the cold, but we did learn that with good quality gear and lots of layers, we could keep warm.

We enjoyed our time so much we decided to extend our ski season and visit another mountain village!
